SUPing Venice

SUP is all the rage in the U.S. now, but what about Europe?  Carrie S., one of our original Paddle Divas, recently returned from her trip to Italy and shared with us her amazing experience Stand up Paddling in VeniceSUPing through the historic waters and canals of Venice, Italy.

Carrie was first introduced to stand up paddling in July 2010. It only took one lesson with Paddle Diva’s Gina Bradley and Carrie was hooked!  She fell in love with the sport immediately and has been actively participating in all Paddle Diva has to offer: our group tours, fitness classes, and even our winter time FreezeSUP paddles. So when it came time to schedule her vacation, Carrie tried to find a way to keep stand up paddling in the picture.

Carrie did some research and found Surf Club Venezia.  They offered stand up paddle tours of Venice but only accept paddlers with prior knowledge and proper training.  Thanks to her experience paddling with Paddle Diva, Carrie was welcomed to join the tour!  She was overjoyed by the experience and believes that it was the best way to see and experience the streets of Venice.

  • Having met Eliana in July 2011 as she is the co organizer of the Surfin’ Venice event once a year through her hometown, Venice I made her aware of sup sisters like Gina Bradley. Both share a love of sport, endless positive energy and neither are afraid to make sup happen for new paddlers. Its so easy to fly into Marco Polo airport, water all around, take a water taxi to Lido Isle or Venice. To get in the water is so Italian, as they LIVE on the beach for weeks at a time.

When you’re touring Italy, near Tuscany another sup sister has boards, food, yoga waiting for you too!
