Have you ever watched in what feels like slow motion as your favorite pair of sunglasses slowly sinks towards the ocean floor? You splash around frantically trying to swipe them back up to the surface, but somehow, they remain just slightly out of reach. As if we need another possible way to lose our sunglasses! How do we rectify this situation? The answer is simple — the new must-have for those involved in water sports — floating sunglasses.

Waviators floating sunglasses (a Paddle Diva Pick)Is there anything better than a cute pair of unsinkable aviators?!  Check out the Chicago-based company, Waviators, whose founder came up with the ultra-light plastic design after having three sunglass casualties in one summer. Now you never have to worry again about losing your Wayfarers to the ocean depths. There they’ll be, just hanging out, bobbing on the top of the water, waiting to be retrieved. Check out their designs on their website: http://waviators.com/.

Also, recently featured in Stand Up Paddle Surfing Magazine, are the Barz Optics “San Juan” floating sunglasses. These things are seriously high tech. In addition to being buoyant in both turbulent fresh and salt water, the high wrap frame offers side protection. All this while still managing to look pretty trendy! Barz Optics also makes a model called the “Floater.” Both models feature acetate polarized lenses and there’s something for everyone’s budget, as they are available in a range of prices — from $80 to $290.
